Types of cover

| Enhanced company or personal plan | May add orthodontics, implants or crowns | Often needs pre-approval with an itemised quote |
| Personal accident policy | Dental treatment after an injury | Pay and claim with a dentist’s memo |
| Integrated Shield / MediShield Life | Hospital and specified treatments; routine dental generally not covered | Check your policy wording |
What to check before treatment
- Yearly limit and how much is left for this year
- Covered procedures: many basic plans exclude orthodontics, implants, crowns and cosmetic treatment
- Panel clinics: whether you must use a panel clinic for cashless claims
- Pre-approval: larger treatments may need an itemised quote first
- Accident cases: what documents your insurer needs from the dentist
At Toothsmith
We are a cashless panel clinic for Alliance MediNet and SODA by DA. For other insurers, you pay at the clinic and we provide an itemised receipt and any memo or claim form endorsement your insurer needs. We can give an itemised quote for pre-approval. See dental insurance.
Frequently asked questions
Does my Integrated Shield plan cover wisdom tooth surgery or root canals?
Generally not. Integrated Shield plans are designed for hospital and specified treatments, and routine dental treatment is usually excluded. Wisdom tooth surgery may instead be MediSave-claimable.
Does dental insurance cover braces in Singapore?
Only some enhanced plans. Most basic corporate dental plans exclude orthodontic treatment. Ask your HR department or insurer, and request an itemised quote for pre-approval.
My insurer is not on the clinic’s panel. Can I still claim?
Usually yes, by reimbursement. Pay at the clinic, keep the itemised receipt and submit it with any claim form your insurer requires.
Can I claim for a broken tooth from a fall?
Often yes, under a personal accident policy. Ask the dentist for a memo describing the injury and treatment.
