Using MediSave and Flexi-MediSave for dental treatment
MediSave is the national medical savings account in your CPF. It can be used for a defined list of dental procedures. This page explains the two routes: standard MediSave for surgical procedures, and Flexi-MediSave for patients aged 60 and above for root canal treatment and permanent crowns.
Standard MediSave: surgical dental procedures
MediSave may be used for dental procedures that involve surgery and are performed for medical reasons, at a MediSave-accredited clinic such as ours. The amount that can be withdrawn is set by CPF for each procedure. At Toothsmith this works out as follows:
| Procedure at Toothsmith | Our fee (incl. GST) | MediSave |
|---|---|---|
| Surgical removal of impacted wisdom tooth (one tooth) | $1,362.50 | 100% MediSave-claimable. No cash payment, subject to available balance. |
| Surgical removal of two impacted wisdom teeth (same sitting) | $2,343.50 | 100% MediSave-claimable. No cash payment, subject to available balance. |
| Dental implant placement (Visit 1) | $1,950 | Fully claimable: CPF allows up to $1,950 per implant placed ($1,120 operation limit plus up to $830 day-surgery charges), which matches our surgical fee. |
| Implant abutment, scan and crown (Visits 2–4) | $1,250 | Not claimable (not surgical). |
| Simple extraction, fillings, scaling, dentures, braces, whitening | – | Not claimable. CHAS may apply to some of these. |

Whose MediSave can be used?
Your own, or that of an approved dependant: your spouse, child, parent, grandparent or sibling (siblings must be Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents). The account holder completes and signs a Medical Claims Authorisation Form, which we provide.
What to bring
- Your NRIC
- If a family member is paying: their NRIC, a screenshot of their MediSave balance (from the CPF app or website) and the signed authorisation form
We submit the claim electronically after the procedure. Any amount above the claimable limit, or above the available balance, is paid in cash, NETS or card on the day.
Flexi-MediSave: for patients aged 60 and above
Flexi-MediSave allows Singaporeans aged 60 and above to use up to $400 a year from MediSave for outpatient treatment at CHAS clinics, polyclinics and public specialist outpatient clinics. The annual limit was raised from $300 to $400 on 1 October 2025, and from mid-2026 the scheme was extended to root canal treatment and permanent crowns at CHAS dental clinics and public dental institutions.
